The Foundation and the Future Campaign aims to create a sustainable, vibrant future for our spiritual community through investment in our sacred objects, our historic building, and our endowment.

What are our current goals?

We are aiming to raise 2.5 million dollars between July 2022-July 2027, with the goal of raising $500,000 from current congregants over five years. Pledges can be made throughout the campaign by check or online at bethisraelwaterville.org, (click on the maroon “donate” button at the top of the page, and choose "campaign" in the dropdown menu.) Additionally, if you are interested in gifting stock as part of your pledge, please contact us at office.bethisraelwaterville@gmail.com, and we’ll provide further instructions.

When is the party?

The Foundation and the Future campaign will launch on July 31, 2022 at Enchanted Gables (78 Hussey Hill Road) in Oakland, Maine from 4:00-6:00 pm. Heavy dairy hors d'oeuvres and desserts will be served, along with a robust program celebrating our past and envisioning our future together. 

 

Will my membership dues count towards the capital campaign?

Membership dues are essential to supporting the annual operating expenses of the Congregation such as building maintenance, utilities, purchases of goods and services, etc. Donations for the capital campaign are separate and support the long-term needs and structural projects for Beth Israel. Together, they work to ensure the ongoing operations and sustainability for Beth Israel.

What progress have we made so far?

We have secured close to 1.8 million dollars in pledges, and have secured a location, caterer, and designer for our campaign launch. We have also employed the architectural firm Bechtel Frank Erickson Architects to envision a physical future for our building. You can access the initial drawings here.

What is left to be done?​

 

We need artifacts and memorabilia for our campaign. If you have pictures, programs, or documents from Beth Israel events that we can scan or incorporate into our campaign, please email Rabbi Isaacs at risaacs@colby.edu. You can scan them and share them, or drop them off in person.

How can I help?

While there are multiple ways to join the campaign, here are a few critical paths toward engagement: ​

• Plan for a pledge toward the Foundation and the Future campaign.

• Join our campaign launch team which will need considerable logistical support.

• Spread the word of our July campaign launch, and invite neighbors, friends, and relatives to join us.
